Water-soluble double-sided adhesive medical tape is a specialized adhesive product designed for medical applications where temporary adhesion and easy removal are crucial. Its biggest feature is that it loses its stickiness upon contact with water, allowing it to be easily and painlessly removed. It is especially suitable for people with delicate skin and in situations where frequent dressing changes are required.

Stable: Viscosity remains stable year-round.
Optional substrates: water-soluble non-woven fabric, high-quality water-soluble paper or medical water-soluble paper.
Soluble in Water: The adhesive and substrate dissolve completely in water within 60 seconds, leaving no residue;
Double-Sided: Adhesive on both sides enables secure attachment of medical devices, dressings, or other materials to the skin or other surfaces.
Hypoallergenic: Formulated to minimize the risk of allergic reactions, making it suitable for sensitive skin.
Breathable: Often designed to allow air and moisture to pass through, promoting skin health and comfort.
Sterile: Available in sterile versions to ensure safety in medical environments.
Flexible and Conformable: Adapts to the contours of the body for a secure and comfortable fit.

Backing/Substrate Material
Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) Film:PVA is a synthetic polymer that is non-toxic, biodegradable, and has excellent film-forming properties. The film is clear, soft, and flexible when dry.
Water-Spun Non-Woven Fabric: Some tapes use a non-woven fabric made from water-soluble fibers . This creates a softer, more cloth-like feel with high breathability.
Composites: To balance strength and dissolution speed, some backings may be a thin laminate of PVA film and other biodegradable materials.
Water-Soluble Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive (PSA)
Primary Material: Water-Soluble Acrylic Polymer Adhesives
Characteristics: This is the most common and advanced technology used. Through specific polymer chemistry, these adhesives are engineered to have two key states:
Dry State: Provides sufficient tack and adhesion to securely hold dressings, catheters, or electrodes in place.
Wet State: Upon contact with water, the adhesive absorbs it and undergoes a process called hydration. It transforms from a sticky film into a slippery, non-tacky hydrogel, releasing its grip on the skin and the object it was holding.
Temporary fixation of surgical drapes or other materials during procedures.
Ensure the area where the tape will be applied is clean and dry for best adhesion.
Apply the tape smoothly to the dressing or catheter as you would regular tape, being careful not to stretch it excessively.
Soak a cotton ball or gauze in warm water or saline solution. Fully saturate the tape. Wait until the adhesive to dissolve completely. Gently peel or wipe the tape off the skin.
